Amen
ENGLISH
Luke 9:51 When the time was approaching for Jesus to be taken up to heaven, he set his gaze toward Jerusalem.
Luke 9:52 And he sent messengers ahead of him. They went and entered a Samaritan village to make preparations for him.
Luke 9:53 But the Samaritans did not receive him, because his journey was toward Jerusalem.
Luke 9:54 When his disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"
Luke 9:55 But he turned and rebuked them.
Luke 9:56 And they went on to another village.
REFLECTION:
Lord Jesus also taught love to His disciples even though He was rejected in the Samaritan village (the Samaritans were hostile to the Jews) to the point where two of His disciples said they wanted to command fire to come down from heaven and destroy the village. But Jesus immediately turned and rebuked them for speaking this way, let alone destroying them. Because Jesus came not to destroy humanity but to save it, regardless of ethnicity, tribe, nation, and other distinctions. Jesus always had love to give a chance to those willing to repent.
Jesus also taught not to force His will, and if they were not accepted in a place, His disciples should move on from there, as it meant that place did not want to receive the blessed love of the Lord. By allowing this without condemning or destroying the village that rejected Him just because He was going to Jerusalem, Jesus wanted to show that there was an opportunity for repentance for all nations. If a nation accepted Jesus, then the loving blessings of the Lord would accompany them, and Jesus would stay with them.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank you for being so good.
You teach us to forgive,
Even when the people in the place we reside do not accept us.
You are patient and give them time
Time to think and follow Jesus Christ.
Lord, bless me too and remind me of my baptismal promise.
Amen.
